Here’s some great outdoor activities from August to September 2011. It’s always a good idea to check ahead of time to make sure an event is still on.

7-Aug	Huntington Beach Fun Roll	10:30 am, just north of the Huntington Beach Pier at the ampitheter. It's a lesurly 16 mile skate with plenty of rest stops. Remember you potective gear!
8-Aug	Newport Bay Kayak Tour	10:00am - Reservations Required ($20, or $10 for members) This is a 2 hour guided kayak tour of the Back Bay in Newport Beach, CA. The tour leaves from the Newport Aquatic Center. Bring sun protection and be prepared to get wet. Call (949)923-2269 for reservations.
10-Aug	Biodiversity Hike	8:30-10:30am - Learn about the diversity of animal and plant species as you explore our ever-changing wilderness on an easy, 1.5-mile, slow and easy hike over rocky and uneven terrain. Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, James Dilley Preserve (east side of Laguna Canyon Rd/SR-133, just north of 73 Toll Road). Reservations required: 949-923-2235. Parking: $3. Donation: $2/person.
14-Aug	Native Plant Hike	8:30-11:30am - Learn to identify native plants with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalist Nadine Nordstrom (author of South Coast Wilderness Plant Identification Guide) on this moderate, but steep and rocky, 3.5-mile hike. Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Willow Canyon Staging Area (20101 Laguna Canyon Rd, just south of El Toro Rd intersection). Reservations required: 949-923-2235. Parking: $3. Donation: $2/person.

Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, Ranger Headquarters, Gate 1, 28373 Alicia Pkwy (from southbound Aliso Creek Rd, turn right on Alicia, first right AWMA, left into parking lot). 21-Aug	Nature Night Hike at Rancho Sonado	$5 per person ($25/family) call (714)708-3885 for reservations. Inside the Outdoors® invites you and your family to join us for a night hike at Rancho Sonado. Hike through wilderness areas bordering the Cleveland National Forest. 22-Aug	Birding Hike	8-11:30am - Spot resident and summer migratory birds with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalists on this 2-mile hike over uneven terrain through one of the most diverse plant communities in the United States. 24-Aug	Full Moon Hike	6:30-9:30pm - Join Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalists at sunset for this moderate, 3.5 mile-hike through Laurel and Willow canyons and up to Bommer Ridge for spectacular views under a full moon. Please bring a flashlight and water and wear long pants, a jacket and sturdy hiking shoes. Inclement weather will cancel. 28-Aug	Geology Hike	8-11am - Enjoy unspoiled canyon views and learn about local geology on this moderate, 2.8-mile hike to Barbaras Lake, one of the only natural lakes in Orange County. Led by Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteers.
